Penn State had the weekend off, but is nonetheless moving down in the rankings. James Franklin’s program is No. 10 in the AP Top 25 poll released on Sunday, down two spots from last week’s ranking.

The Nittany Lions are one of seven Big Ten teams included in the top 25. Ohio State stayed put at No. 3 behind new No. 1 Texas and No. 2 Georgia. Oregon stayed No. 9, USC remained at No. 11, Michigan moved down to one spot to No. 18 and Nebraska moved up one place to No. 22. Penn State’s Sept. 28 opponent, Illinois, is ranked for the first time this season, coming in at No. 24.

Penn State was jumped in the polls by Miami (FL), which climbed to No. 8 after beating Ball State 62-0 on Saturday.

The Nittany Lions will return to Beaver Stadium on Saturday for a tilt with Kent State (0-3), which sustained a 71-0 defeat against No. 6 Tennessee this weekend.
